Complicated Grief article featured on Counselling Directory

Counselling Directory have kindly published my article on grief after domestic abuse on the articles section of their website. The article, 'Complicated grief - grieving the death of an abuser' was inspired by a book I recently read by the talented Sandra Reddish, One in Four Women.

The book details, in simple and easy language, the different types of abuse that can occur in domestic situations, how they may present, and what keeps the survivor in that situation in the first place. It's a very insightful and accessible book, which I would urge everyone to read whether they work with domestic abuse or not, it never hurts to understand someone's situation a little better, but has the potential to be life changing.

Sandra's book got me thinking about how being in that situation would complicate grief, if the abuser was the one to die. It's not something I've often seen talked about, which can only add to the loneliness of an already isolated situation.
